NITTE MEENAKSHI Institute of Technology (NMIT) is an Autonomous Institution affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), with the approval of UGC. NMIT got accredited by the National Board of Accreditation [NBA] under Tier-1 status (for 4 Programs) and Grade-A status by National Assessment and Accreditation Council [NAAC – UGC].

NMIT is the youngest engineering college in the country to be conferred the prestigious Autonomous Status by UGC/Govt. of Karnataka, New-Delhi in the year 2007.

NMIT is the only unaided private engineering college in Karnataka State to be selected by the Govt. of India for World Bank Funding under TEQIP Phase II-Subcomponent 1.1 in the year 2011.

NMIT has a strong focus on excellence in education, research and promotion of Innovation and entrepreneurship. Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre was established in the year 2010 and funded (to the tune of Rs.45 lakhs) by the Department of Science and Technology (NSTEDB), New Delhi.

Electrical and Electronics Engineering

The department of EEE was started in the year 2001 with a sanctioned intake of 60 students. The department has been accredited in 2009 and 2014. The main areas of learning in this program pertain to principles and analysis of equipment and systems used in the generation, transmission, distribution and utilization of electrical energy.

Other areas of learning pertain to electronic devices and circuits used in the measurement, instrumentation, control and protection of electric equipment’s and conversion systems.

Students also learn concepts related to computers and applications for computer based systems used in the design, analysis and operation of power system. The faculty members always strive to impart knowledge in the best possible manner to the students. Quality and standard of teaching is always a priority for the faculty members.

The department offers a UG (B.E) program in EEE and a PG (M.TECH) program in Renewable Energy. The department is recognized as a research center by VTU and offers M.Sc. (by research) and Ph.D. programs.

The laboratories in the department are well equipped for the experiments and for research work. The department has also received Rds. 10 Lacks from AICTE, New Delhi, under ‘MODROBS’ scheme for upgrading the Power Laboratory. The department regularly organizes industrial visits. Experts from industries and institutes enhance the students’ knowledge through technical lectures on contemporary subjects in the field of EEE.

B.E.-ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING

The department of EEE was started in the year 2001.
The department has been accredited in 2009 and 2014.
The main areas of learning in this program pertain to principles and analysis of equipment and systems use in the generation, transmission, distribution and utilization of electric energy.
Other areas of learning pertain to electronic devices and circuits used in the measurement, instrumentation, control and protection of electric equipment’s and conversion systems.
Students also learn concepts related to computers and applications for computer based systems used in the design, analysis and operation of power system.
Students execute mini-projects in their laboratory courses.
They are also encouraged to publish papers in national and international conferences.
They are actively engaged in multidisciplinary work on satellites (Stud sat), Robotics and MEMS.
The faculty members are actively engaged in research and regularly publish papers.
Industrial visits and talks by experts are regularly arranged.

Eligibility

The minimum eligibility for this requires, passing the higher secondary school certificate (10+2) examination with science subjects such as Physics and math’s as compulsory subjects along with other subjects like Chemistry, Computer Science, Biotechnology, and Biology.
Minimum percentage of marks in class 12/ higher secondary Examination is generally from 50% to 55%.
Since most institutions have an Entrance Exam; the students who have appeared in Higher Secondary Examination and are awaiting results can apply too.
Some colleges like Bharti Vidyapeeth University also offer Direct Entry for this course along with an Entrance Exam.
The eligibility for this requires the student to have Diploma in Engineering by an institution recognized by All India Council for Technical Education.

Admission Process

If the candidate is eligible, they can apply for the course either through Direct Entry (as mentioned in Eligibility) or through Entrance Examination.

The Joint Entrance Exam applications are available online in the months of December and January. Candidates can opt for either pen-paper based exam or computer-based exam for Paper 1. This paper is for students applying for B.TECH EEE.

BITSAT: (Direct Electrical & Electronics Admission @NITTE MEENAKSHI)

Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission test or BITSAT application form are available from the month of January. This exam is an Online based one.

JEE Advanced: (Direct Electrical & Electronics Admission @NITTE MEENAKSHI)

JEE Advanced examination is taken by JEE Main selected candidates to take admission in IIT. The application forms are available online in the months of April- May.

Selection Process

The selection process varies in two ways from college to college:
By accepting the candidate’s admission solely on the Entrance Examination Score and/or
Declaring a merit list based on candidate’s performance in Entrance Exam as well as their qualifying score.
