Maharashtra Institute of Technology Pune which is generally called MIT Pune was established in 1983. Now MIT Pune is a part of MIT-WPU (MIT-World Peace University) and MAEER’s (Maharashtra Academy of Engineering and Educational Research) Group of Institutions.

MIT Pune was the first college of the MAEER’s Group of Institutions and one of the first private Engineering College in Maharashtra. Then, MIT Pune was affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University, which is on 03^rd May 2017 turned into a private university – MIT World Peace University.
