It was founded in 1984 as the Vellore Engineering College the self-financing institution. It was established under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act, 1956.

The Vellore Engineering Colleges conferred University status in 2001 by the Union Ministry of Human Resources Development.

The University is headed by its founder and Chancellor, Dr. G. Viswanathan, a former Parliamentarian and Minister in the Tamil Nadu Government.

Sankar Viswanathan, Sekar Viswanathan, and G.V. Selvam are the Vice-Presidents; Dr. Anand A. Samuel is the Vice-Chancellor and Dr. V. Raju and Dr. S. Narayanan are the Pro-Vice-Chancellors.

VIT-Vellore B.Tech Admission Eligibility

The Candidates who are seeking for First-year B.Tech Admission in VIT University Vellore, he/she has to possesses the below criterion:-

Nationality:
The applicant for admission should be a Resident / Non-Resident Indian National.

The final examination of the 10+2 system of Higher Secondary Examination conducted by the State Board; Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE, New Delhi) The Council for Indian School Certificate Examination -ISCE, New Delhi.
Intermediate or Two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognized Board/ University.
High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.
General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London/Cambridge/Srilanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
As per VIT Norms, NIOS candidates are eligible to appear for the VITEEE.

Candidates who have studied in Regular, Full Time and Formal Education are alone eligible to apply

Qualifying Examination:
Candidates appearing for the VITEEE 2022 should have either completed or shall be appearing in 2021, in any one of the following qualifying examinations:

Eligibility Criteria in the Qualifying Examination:
Candidates appearing for the VITEEE Exam should have secured an aggregate of 60% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology in the qualifying examination (+2/Intermediate).

The average marks obtained in the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology (PCM / PCB) in +2 (or its equivalent) put together should be 50% for the following categories:

Candidates belonging to SC/ST
Candidates hailing from Jammu and Kashmir and the North Eastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura.
CERTIFICATE TO PROVE NATIVITY should be produced at the time of counselling, failing which they will not be considered for admission.
Candidates who have studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics are eligible for all the B.Tech. Programmes.
Candidates who have studied Physics, Chemistry and Biology are eligible for B.Tech. Bio-Medical Engineering and Biotechnology programmes. They are also eligible for B.Tech. Computer Science and Engineering (Spec. in Bioinformatics) but after joining, registering Mathematics as bridge course is mandatory.

Age Limit :
Candidates whose date of birth falls on or after 1st July 1999 are eligible to apply for VITEEE-2022. The date of birth as recorded in the High School / SSC / X Certificate will be considered authentic. Candidates should produce this certificate in original as proof of their age at the time of counseling, failing for which they will be disqualified.

Admission to First-year B.Tech Degree Programme in VIT University Vellore is based on VIT Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE) conducted all over India and also abroad.

Advertisement is given regarding the issue of application forms, important dates, etc., in all leading newspapers all over India and notified on the VIT website.
