The discipline integrates knowledge based on digital electronics and logic design, fundamentals of communication engineering, electronic circuits, signals and systems, power electronics, applied electromagnetic theory, integrated circuits, VLSI, control systems, and computer architecture.

Electronics and Communication Department
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology Bangalore was started in 1975 to meet the needs of the emerging IT industry and research. The department has 33 teaching staff including HOD.
The main focused areas of the department are Signal and Image Processing, Wireless Communication, VLSI Design and Embedded Systems, Antenna Theory, and Design. The department was accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The department has MOUs with leading IT Industries.

The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering was Establishment in the Year 1975 with an initial intake of 60 at UG level program. In the year 2002, a PG program in Digital Electronics & Communications and in 2013 another PG program was started in M.Tech in VLSI Design and Embedded Systems.
Currently the UG program has sanctioned intake of 120, PG program in Digital Electronics & Communications has a sanctioned intake of 30, and the PG program in VLSI Design and Embedded Systems has a sanctioned intake of 18. The department is accredited by Nation Board of Accreditation (NBA) four times for the period of 3 years each for UG and once for the period of 3 years for PG
