The Department of Chemical Engineering in MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology (MSRIT) Bangalore was started in 1978 which the first department was offering Chemical Engineering Course by a self-financing engineering college in Bangalore, and it was the fifth in MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology.
The Department of Chemical Engineering of MS Ramaiah is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) and ISO 9001:2000 certified for imparting in Quality of Education. Over 1900 students have a graduation Degree in Chemical Engineers in 31batches.

The Candidate seeking for Admission in MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology in Chemical Engineering Branch he or she has to follow below condition:-
Should have passed 2nd PUC / 12th standard or equivalent examination with English as one of the languages and obtained 45% of marks in aggregate in Physics and Mathematics along with Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Computer Science / Electronics / Biology.
In case of candidates belonging to Karnataka Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Other Backward Classes (Category I, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B), the minimum marks for the purpose of eligibility will be 40% of marks in aggregate in the optional subjects in the qualifying examination.

– CET (Common Entrance Test)
The CET (Common Entrance Test) is conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA). Only Karnataka Domicile Candidates can appear in this test.
– COMEDK
The COMEDK is another Entrance Exam for Admission into 1st year to Engineering, Architecture, Medical and Dental Courses in Karnataka. Both Karnataka and Non-Karnataka Students can appear in this Test. COMEDK is an association of Private Engineering, Medical and Dental Colleges of Karnataka.
– Management Quota
Almost all Private Engineering Colleges in Karnataka has some percent (20-25%) of seats are reserved under Management Quota. These seats are handed over to the aspiring candidates (Karnataka & Non-Karnataka).
– Supernumerary Quota
Like Management Quota Seats some seats are also reserved under this quota. Children of employees working in gulf countries (minimum one year); Persons of Indian Origin and Foreign Nationals are eligible for admission under this category.
