Vishwakarma Institute of Technology (Marathi : विश्वकर्मा अभियांत्रिकी महाविद्यालय, पुणे ) (VIT) is a College of Engineering located in the Upper Indira Nagar of the Bibwewadi area of Pune, Maharashtra, India. Established in 1983, it is affiliated with the Savitribai Phule Pune University. This school is academically and financially autonomous, run by the Bansilal Ramanath Agarwal Charitable Trust.

VIT was the first private college in Maharashtra to attain academic autonomy, which it achieved in the 2008-2009 academic year. This helped the college introduce cross-departmental and industry oriented subjects in the curriculum.

Placement

The Placement Cell in Vishwakarma Government engg College has been operational, with the dual objective of imparting preparatory coaching to students and listening with the industry to arrange campus selections. The cell trains the students for facing the personal interviews successfully and supports in enhancing their interpersonal skills as well as communication skills.

The cell is headed by a Professor, nominated by the Principal and supported by the departmental coordinators. This is a student-supported activity. Thanks to the untiring efforts of successive Placement Officers and also to the boom in the software industry, quite a good number of graduates passing out of the college could get excellent placement in their final year itself.

TCS, Thomson Rueter, iGate, TechMahindra are some of the leading software companies visiting the campus regularly. Some other companies, both in public and private sector, like L &T engg, Essar picked up students of this college in campus selections in the past. The placement cell is doing its best to project the college and to arrange campus selections.

Facilities

Hostel: The college provides excellent accommodation to its students. The students are provided with all the amenities so that their stay here becomes a worthwhile experience. The college has a boys hostel with capacity of 282 students and a girls hostel with capacity of 180 students. There are messes in the both hostel campus. Many newspapers and magazines are subscribed for the hostel library.
Entertainment facilities like TV room, badminton room, gymnasium are also available in hostel. Outdoor and indoor games are also provided for the hostilities. University health centre has extended its services to the students of our hostel. The hostel is administered by the rector and four wardens.

TechnoAspire: TechnoAspire, the name itself signifies the spirit of an engineer-passion, ambition and dedication to explore unseen corners and surmount immeasurable heights. TechnoAspire is the annual Tech-Non Tech-Cult-Sports’ fest of VGEC.

This annual technical event gives a rostrum to aspirants from all over Gujarat to project their proficiency and intellect, with an aim to abridge the gap between theoretical concepts learned and the fascinating practical implementation that would follow.

Library Membership: All students and faculty members of Vishwakarma Government Engineering College are to be registered as Member of library. Book borrowing rights are given to all Students (UG/PG) and faculty members.

Location of library: Library area covers basement in D-block and it is spread across 1050 m2, which cover Librarian cabin, news paper reading area, book issue and return area, reference section, magazine section.

Library Resources: All books of Library are classified as per Dewey Decimal Classification System (DDC). Data entry of all books available in library is done in Soul 2.0 Network version. Book issue and return facilities, book search option, student membership is to be done through this Soul 2.o software.

Library services: Library serves as a resource center and aims to develop a comprehensive collection of document’s useful for faculty and students of the institute and provides an efficient distribution of knowledge.

Issue & Return of books Hours: Monday to Friday and working Saturday: 11.00 AM to 2:00PM and 3.00 PM to 5.00 PM.

Library opening Hours: Monday to Friday and working Saturday 9:30AM to 6.10PM.

Centre of Excellence GTU: EC Department at VGEC – Chandkheda houses Centre of Excellence (COE) in Industry standard 4.0 which is a frontier technology in automation sector. This CoE is established by Gujarat Technological University in association with Bosch -Rexroth India Limited (BRIN) with an objective of developing industry institute partnership in the field of Automation, Mobile Hydraulic, Automobile, and Mobile Electronics technologies to bridge technology gaps between industry and academia to foster research and knowledge among the students at GTU.

Computer Center – D100: The Common Computer Center is computing facility with 70 Desktop Computers with latest configuration connected in LAN with Internet connection. This center is mainly useful for students centric activities like placement, common online test, performing workshops on IITB Virtual LAB facilities etc.
