Campus at BMSIT:

B.M.S. Institute of Technology’s are 21 acres (10 ha) campus about 5 km north of Yelahanka Satellite Town, on SH-9. The campus contains The Main Academic Block, the B S Narayan memorial Block, the Administrative Block, and three blocks of the boys’ hostel, an amphitheatre, and several sports pitches and courts.

The Academic block houses the departments of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering, administrative and accounts section, the chamber of the Principal, seminar hall and a data center.

The B S Narayan memorial block houses the Library, and the departments of Computer Science and Engineering, Information Science, MCA, Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physical Education. The administrative block houses the chambers of Director and the Chairperson, the Board Room, the department of Architecture, and a branch of Allahabad Bank.

Students commute to and from the college through several means, including college buses that ply to various parts of the city, public transport, personal transportation and on foot. On- and off-campus hostels for boys and girls, with double and triple seater dorm-rooms are provided to a limited number of boarders from all over the country, and few off shore students.

Facilities for BMSIT:

There are two blocks of on-campus boys’ hostels, an off-campus girls’ hostel, and an off-campus boy’s hostel that accommodates students who couldn’t be accommodated in the on-campus hostels. Off-campus boarders commute to the college through a free shuttle service. In addition to the existing hostel blocks, a proposal of construction of an on-campus girls’ hostel has gained approval, and the construction of a storey, to house off-shore students in one of the on-campus hostel blocks is underway.

Internet connectivity is available on computers in the Internet Centre, that may be used by students and staff during college hours, and by means of a restricted-access Wi-Fi network through access points located in many strategic points throughout the campus, providing internet access to students and staff members with wireless devices, on the fly.

The college also supports environmental measures. The main Avenue is flanked on either side by green covers, the irrigation of which is done with waste water of the campus, treated in the water treatment plant. The hot water storage and supply system of the on campus boarding is entirely solar powered. The campus also houses an environmental-friendly cafeteria.

The library is fully computerized using the Libsoft software. The library subscribes to over 200 IEL-Online journals (IEEE journals, conference proceedings, transactions & standards) and also subscribes to several national and international journals.

The college has a teaching staff of all ranks from various sectors and fields of engineering, as well as non-teaching staff to aid the students. The Placement cell at BMSIT helps students avail placements in the core industrial sector, as well as in both, the Information Technology and Information Technology Enabled Sectors. DEPARTMENTAL FESTS:

ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING

The Electrical and Electronics Department organizes an annual intercollege technical fest, titled “VIDYUT”, during the odd semester, with widespread participation from other colleges and departments. Events usually conducted under the fest include paper presentations, poster presentations, quizzes and mock placements. Other events exclusive to the Department are also conducted; such as circuit debugging and robotics related competitions.

MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

The Forum for Mechanical Engineering is a club run by students under the guidance and support from the faculty. Under this club, the department conducts an inter-collegiate technical fest titled “UTHKHANANA”, annually during the odd semester; with widespread participation from students of other colleges. Events conducted for the past few years include paper presentations, poster presentations, quizzes and mock placements along with other events exclusive to the Department.

ELECTRONICS AND COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING

A club run by students under the guidance and support from faculty. The club aims to encourage technical interest among students from various Departments who have a common interest in electronics. Under this club, the department conducts an intercollegiate technical fest annually during the month of September (odd semester). Events conducted under the fest include paper presentations, poster presentations, quizzes and mock placements. Other events exclusive to the Department are also organized. stalls organized by the fest’s sponsors along with General stalls selling products created by students are also an accompanying feature.

COMPUTER SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING

The Computer Science Department organizes an annual intercollege technical fest, titled “SEMAPHORE”, during the odd semester, with widespread participation from other colleges and departments. Events usually conducted under the fest include paper presentations, poster presentations, quizzes and mock placements. Other events exclusive to the Department are also organized. Accompanying stalls are set up by the fest’s sponsors.

INFORMATION SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING

The Department organizes an annual intercollege technical fest, “INFINIUM”, during the odd semester, in which many students from other colleges and departments attend. Events usually conducted under the fest include paper presentations, poster presentations, quizzes and mock placements along with other Department specific events.

MASTERS OF COMPUTER APPLICATIONS

The department of MCA has planned to conduct fest in the month of February called Ganaka Jnanotsava as a platform for all-round development of students as an intercollege IT fest.

LIFE SUPPORT INFRASTRUCTURE

Leaving one’s home behind and staying at a new place can be a difficult situation. So, we at BMSIT&M make sure their hostel life makes them feel at home.

FIRST AID / FIRE EXTINGUISHERS / WATER COOLERS

  • First aid kits have been provided in all the labs in all the departments including the office and library.
  • Fire extinguishers of relevant type are placed at strategic locations to meet any emergencies arising out of fire.
  • Water coolers are provided in every floor of all the buildings to facilitate purified drinking water.

FRIENDLY BUILDING

The building in the campus including the hostels are provided with adequate number of lifts. Besides the entry point of the buildings are provided with rafts (sloped floorings) to facilitate the movement of wheelchair.
