BMS College is an autonomous Engineering Institute under Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) Belgaum.

The Institute was started in 1946 by the great visionary and philanthropist Late B. M. Sreenivasaiah. BMS College is the first private sector initiative in technical education in India.

The Institute is located just opposite to Bull Temple in Basavanagudi, Bangalore, spread in 16 acres with a built-up area of more than 60,000 Meter2.

The Institute was started with only three basic engineering branches (Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical) and today it offers 13 UG, and 16 PG Courses out of them, 15 departments are recognized as Research Centers offering Ph.D. or M.Sc. Passed 2nd year Pre University or Class 12th or 10+2 or equivalent examinations with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with one of the listed subjects like Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology with not less than 50% (45% for ST, SC, and OBC) marks in aggregate in optional subjects with English as one of the language subject.

Final year students who were appeared for Class 12th or 10+2 or 2nd year PUC or equivalent examinations and waiting for results are also eligible for selection to engineering programs.

Note: The relaxation in academic eligibility is extended only to Karnataka candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Other Backward Classes (OBC).
