BIT Bangalore is currently placed as the best college affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belgaum. It is It is recognized by the AICTE and has been accredited by NBA. At present BIT offers nine (9) undergraduate, ten (10) post graduate and a PhD course(s) with a student body of more than 2500.
BIT Bangalore has reached enviable level of excellence in technical education. This was achieved by the dedicated efforts of staff and committed students, as well as very good infrastructure facilities provided by the management.
The atmosphere in the college is quite conductive for learning and practicing the various disciplines of the Engineering. The all-round development of a student is given top priority in college.
There are a number of centres carrying out inter-disciplinary research and many collaborative programmes exist between the college and other institutions such as the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and National Aerospace Laboratories (N.A.L.). The college is also a program centre for Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).

The student should have passed 2nd PUC/12th standard or equivalent examination with English as one of the languages and obtained 45% of marks in aggregate in Physics and Mathematics along with Chemistry/BioTechnology/Computer Science/Electronics/Biology. In case of candidates belonging to Karnataka Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Other Backward Classes, the minimum marks for the purpose of eligibility will be 40% of marks in aggregate in the optional subjects in the qualifying examination.
