History:
The history of BMS institutions rewinds back to the year 1946 with the establishment of the first private engineering college in the country, BMS College of Engineering (BMSCE), by late Sri B.M Sreenivasaiah. He was a philanthropist and a great visionary who realized the necessity of technical education even before the country got independence. He was honored by the Maharaja of Mysore with the title “Dharma Prakasha Raja Karya Prasaktha” for his extraordinary service in the field of education. The legacy he once began is being upheld with the same zeal by his inheritors and they continue to cherish his vision and ideals.
After the sad demise of Sri B.M Sreenivasaiah, his renowned son, Sri B.S Narayan, a vibrant and ingenious personality, moulded BMS College of Engineering into one of the finest engineering colleges. The system at BMS Institute of Technology and Management (BMSIT&M) is perfect as all its subsystems have been designed keeping in view the vision and mission of the institute, they gel well with each other, operate synchronously, and undergo continuous improvements. The vision and mission of BMSIT&M are firmly based on the ground reality of our world. We know that our world is getting more and more complex with every passing day. The Management of the institute, with a great clarity in its vision, has been very proactive in establishing a vast, green and serene campus; building world-class infrastructure, modern classrooms and state-of-the-art laboratories; allowing free hand to create exceptional human capital for teaching, research and extension services; and supporting all collaborative and networking efforts.
The highly qualified and dedicated faculty members have gained competencies to implement Outcome-Based Education (OBE) which is mandatory for engineering programmes to get accredited as per Washington accord. Eligibility Criteria:
The candidates shall have passed the 2nd year Pre University or 12th standard or equivalent examination held preceding the entrance test with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with one of the following subjects – Chemistry, Bio-technology, Computer Science, Biology or Electronics. The Candidate should have secured not less than 45% of aggregate marks in optional subjects with English as one of the languages for admissions to engineering.
The candidates satisfying the above criterion can apply through:-

- COMEDK (Consortium Of Medical Engineering and Dental colleges of Karnataka) Comed-K
- Management Quota: The admission under management quota is processed in the office of the BMS Educational Trust. The Council of Trustees decide the tuition fee for various courses under management quota and seats are allotted by the Chief of the Admission Committee.
