RV College of Engineering is established in the year 1963, it is an autonomous technical institute under Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belgaum.
RV College of Engineering is one among the best self-financing engineering colleges of India. At the time of inception the college has only three engineering branches viz. Civil, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, and Today RV College of Engineering offering 12 undergraduate and 16 postgraduate and doctoral programmed.
RV College of Engineering Civil Engineering Department
The Department of Civil Engineering of RV College was established in the year 1964 with B.E. in Civil Engineering, which one of the oldest engineering programs. The department of civil engineering has been imparting quality education to meet the technological advancement and industrial requirements.
The present intake for the undergraduate civil engineering program is 120 and is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) Belagavi with an Autonomous status.
The Department has been started two postgraduate programs in Structural Engineering and Highway Technology with the total intake of 36 under VTU Belgaum. Research and Development (R&D) under Civil Engineering Department of RV College is a recognized research centre under VTU. The Department is involved in R&D works offers consultancy services and conduct training programmed for industry and government organizations.
Students are encouraged to participate in extra-curricular and co-curricular activities. Industry Institute interaction is nurtured by organizing and coordinating frequent industrial visits, Expert Lectures, Seminars. Reputed companies like L&T, ECC, Shapoorji Pallonji, Brigade Group, Atkins, Total Environment, Tata Consulting engineers, Cognizant Technologies, Accenture recruit students of the department.

R.V. College of Engineering BE Selection Criteria
- For selecting candidates, R V College of Engineering considers the score of KCET exam for those who belong to the state of Karnataka.
- While for students belonging to other states, selection will depend upon the exams such as COMEDK and any other national entrance test.
- Applicants with a valid rank in the above exams have to appear for the counselling.
- KCET qualified students have to appear in KCET Counselling conducted by KEA and COMEDK qualifiers have to attend the COMEDK Counselling.
- During the counselling, applicants have to fill the choice of college and course
- Seats will be allotted based on the choices filled and score obtained in the entrance exam.
- Around 45% of seats are filled through KCET, 30% through COMEDK and remaining 25% through Management Quota.
- The selected candidates have to submit the required documents and pay the required amount of fees to confirm their admission.
