RV College of Engineering Bangalore is a self-financed technical institute established by the Rashtriya Shikshana Samithi Trust (RSST) in 1963. The college has been ranked among the top engineering colleges in India. It is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum and is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA).

RV College of Engineering is nestled on the banks of the Vrishabhavati River in Bangalore. The 53 acres campus is divided into numbers of buildings and each building has a separate department for undergraduate courses. The college has all the essential facilities that include hostels, Post office, canteen, and a health center. The institute is closely situated to Kengeri Railway Station. There are four hostels on the campus with separate facilities for boys and girls.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering was established in year 1984. The Department offers B.E (CSE) undergraduate program, two postgraduate programs M.Tech (CSE) and M.Tech (CNE). Department also offers M.Sc. by Research and Ph.D. degree in various specializations of Computer Science and Engineering.

The Department of CSE at RV College has MoUs for Research, Consultancy, and training with multinational companies and government agencies such as CISCO, Citrix, Nihon, Gnostice, Sapient, Infosys Technologies, and Karnataka Forest Department.

CSE Department also has industry-sponsored labs from CISCO, IBM, and Nvidia GPU research center. Students are encouraged to take up interdisciplinary research in various domains of computer science like computer vision, Data Mining, Networking, high-performance computing, etc. and are placed in reputed companies.

Department of Computer Science & Engineering has a total of 49 teaching faculty members with various specializations in computer science, out of which 17 are Ph.D. holders and 29 are pursuing a Ph.D. The Department has state-of-the-art infrastructure and computing equipment supported by high-speed Ethernet and wireless networks.

Admissions in RV College of Engineering are done as per the Government of Karnataka norms and the Admission Matrix is announced by them.
Out of the total seats 45% of the seats are filled by the Common Entrance Test conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA), 30% of seats are filled through Common Entrance Test conducted by Private Management Association (COMEDK) and 25% of seats are filled by Management Quota.
Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA), a state agency for candidates who are domicile of Karnataka for seven year or more.
Common Entrance Test conducted by Karnataka Unaided Private Engineering, Medical and Dental Colleges Association Authority (COMEDK) for both Karnataka & Non-Karnataka Students aspiring for Engineering, Medical and Dental Admission in Karnataka.
