Businayana Mukundadas Sreenivasaiah College of Engineering (BMS): The college is an autonomous engineering college in Basavangudi, Bangalore, India. It also has Evening college (BMSECE), a nonautonomous college, which comes under VTU. The engineering college, started in 1946 by B. M. Sreenivasiah, was the first private sector initiative in technical education in India and is run by the BMS Educational Trust.
BMS College of Engineering [BMSCE] was Founded in the year 1946 by late Sri. B M Sreenivasiah as the first Engineering College under private enterprise and nurtured by his illustrious Son Late.Sri.B.S.Narayan. Started with only three courses, BMSCE today offers 13 UG & 14 PG programs with 14 Research Centers offering PhD programmes.
The College has been the most preferred destination not only of students of the state but also from various parts of the Country. BMSCE is the only institution from India adopted by the Melton Foundation, USA. BMSCE IS TEQIP Phase I and Phase II Institute. The campus area was spread over 15 acres.
BMSCE has the largest student population among the engineering colleges in Karnataka, drawing students from other states of India and abroad. One of the oldest engineering colleges in Karnataka, it celebrated its “Diamond Jubilee” in 2006. It is also known for the annual inter-collegiate Techno-Cultural festival UTSAV, one of the prominent student-managed festivals in the country.
Affiliation & Recognition:
The college was affiliated with Bangalore University until 1998. It was affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University from 1998 to 2008, and became autonomous in 2008. BMSCE is located on the Basavangudi Area Bull Temple Road, opposite to the famous Bull Temple. Though a private engineering college, it is partially funded by the Government of Karnataka.

It has very attractive infrastructure including well equipped building with a floor area of 2625.67 Sq. m., an auditorium with all modern facilities, hostels for boys and girls (national and international), a sports department to provide wide variety of sports.
