BMSIT & M is practicing OBE and ready to get accreditation by NBA, New Delhi. The National Board of Accreditation (NBA), India was initially established by AICTE (All India Council of Technical Education) under section 10(u) of AICTE act, in the year 1994, for periodic evaluations of technical institutions & programmes basis according to specified norms and standards as recommended by AICTE council.
NBA in its present form came into existence as an autonomous body with effect from 7th January 2010, with the objective of Assurance of Quality and Relevance of Education, especially of the programmes in professional and technical disciplines, i.e., Engineering and Technology, Management, Architecture, Pharmacy and Hospitality, through the mechanism of accreditation of programs offered by technical institutions and BMSIT & M is one of the leading engineering colleges in bangalore under VTU.
NBA has introduced a new process, parameters and criteria for accreditation. These are in line with the best international practices and oriented to assess the outcomes of the programme.
Academics at BMSIT&M
BMS Institute of Technology was started in the year 2002 – 2003 with three Engineering Departments viz., Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. In due course of operation four more programs viz., TCE, EEE, ISE, Civil. Currently there are three PG programmes namely, M Tech in Computer Science & Engineering, Machine Design and Master of Computer Applications. There are seven VTU recognised research centres in BMSIT Bangalore where 40 research scholars are working in diverse research areas.
The Institute is striding in the progressive path and has a team of well qualified, experienced and dedicated faculty. Thirty one faculty members are with doctoral degree and around forty are pursuing. The Institute continues to recruit faculty members with high experience in academia, industry and research. The Institute offers contemporary and competitive teaching/learning methods.
The Institute follows learner centric methods in academics for effective learning by students. The Institute has well equipped laboratories for course work, teaching and student projects. There are around 800 computers connected in the network with all necessary licensed software. The Institute is helping the students in getting exposure to cutting edge technologies by means of organizing industrial visits and technical talks from domain experts of reputed industry/research organizations.
The students are encouraged to involve themselves in creative, technical and research activities. Students have been performing well in the university examination. BMSIT&M follows Outcome Based Education (OBE) with the following learner-centric methods: Cooperative learning, collaborative learning and other OBE approaches. Students are also exposed to project-based learning where the learning is made more effective through innovative/interdisciplinary projects. Learning is also happening through Industry attached labs.
