Mechanical Engineering 2024
The department started the UG program (B.E. in Mechanical Engineering) with an initial intake of 40 students in 1963 with affiliation to Bangalore University. The present intake is 120 and affiliated to VTU, Belgavi with autonomous status in 2007-08.

The department offers B.E. in Mechanical Engineering with an annual intake of 120 students, M.Tech in Product Design and Manufacturing, Computer Integrated Manufacturing and Machine Design with an annual intake of 90 students. Research and Development established in 1986 offers M.Sc. (Engg), Integrated Ph.D.and Ph.D. programmed under VTU, Belagavi. Both B.E (Mechanical Engineering) and M.Tech are Autonomous programmed. B.E in Mechanical Engineering got accredited by NBA, New Delhi for three years in 2000, for five years in 2003, 2008 and for three years in 2015 and 2018. M.Tech in Product Design and Manufacturing got accredited for three years in 2014.
M.Tech in Machine Design got accredited for two years in 2018. The department is engaged in sponsored research, consultancy, testing and characterization majorly in the areas of advanced materials development, processing and design. Advanced Diploma in Automotive Mechtraonics (ADAM) was started in 2018 in collobration with Mercedes-Benz.

Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Mechanical Engineering is a four-year full-time undergraduate program recognized by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and offered by the Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi.
Eligibility Criteria
The basic qualification for eligibility for admission t o B.E. program s is two year Pre-University or 12th Standard or equivalent examination (hereinafter referred to as the Qualifying Examination or Q.E ).
The candidate should have taken Physics and Mathematics as compulsory course s along with Chemistry / Biotechnology / Computer Science / Biology / Electronics as optional course s and English as one of the languages of study in the Q .E.
Further, the candidate should have passed the Q .E with an aggregate minimum of 45% marks in the optional course s in the Q.E (40% of marks in Q.E in case of SC, ST & OBC Category candidates) for eligibility .
The marks obtained by the candidate in Biotechnology / Computer Science / Biology / Electronics in the Q.E., will be considered in place of Chemistry, only for the purpose of determination of eligibility and not for the purpose of determination of rank, in respect of Engineering programmed.
Admission Details
Out of the total seats 45% of the seats are filled by the common entrance test conducted by Karnataka examination authority (KEA), 30% of seats are filled through common entrance test conducted by private managements association (COMED-K) and 25% by management, all by merit.
